“A simple yet meticulously designed house with arrangement of living spaces that perfectly combines empty spaces together” The owner intends to use living area as common space for living, dining and relaxing. It will connects different parts of the house to create a shared-living space for all family members. Thus, the designer intentionally place the living area in the centre of the house. The living room, dining room and kitchen island are all placed within reach in this opened-air hall. Behind the island is a well-planned Thai kitchen isolated from other part of the house to prevent disturbing smell or noise. However, it can be conveniently access and still flow with the connectedness theme of the house. The opposite side of this hall is the owner’s private space. As a result, this hall act as a central connection that horizontally link all areas in this house. Apart from that, this hall is the tallest section of the house sharing the ceiling from the second floor. The space naturally divides the owner's bedroom from his children’s rooms. The two rooms are facing each other to connect in double space style. This hall becomes a heart of the house that enable the flow and maintain the family energy as the owner desired. Beside connecting every parts of the house together, this living space allow easy transition to outdoor courtyard and brilliantly transform the inside/outside space into semi-internal/external space. The house is located in a non-gated neighborhood in Chonburi which present another challenge in designing the house. People coming in and out of the neighborhood at all time, therefore privacy and safety becomes number one priority for the owner. The designer observed the implementation of wrought iron fence on windows throughout the neighborhood. As a result, the designer successfully transformed wrought iron fence into exterior steel wall. The exterior steel wall is aesthetically pleasing and strong while maintaining security and privacy of the house. The house is horizontally facing west which place it in direct sunlight from noon until the evening. The exterior steel wall help creates natural insulation to reduce the amount of light and heat that will reach the house. This is one of many details that the designer present a simple yet effective design in this house.
